Thirty-six companies participated in the tender briefing to implement the first private solar project in Egypt under the BOO model. The project will work with photovoltaic cells and will be made up of 10 plants of 20MW. The Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) will buy the electricity produced by the project for 20 years. At the moment, the authorities are conducting a final review of the new electricity law that will structure the electricity sector in Egypt and offer government guarantees to investors. The project is part of a package of projects making up the 2012-2017 five-year plan and the National Plan of Solar Energy established by the sector to add 3,500 MW (of which 2,800 MW will be CPS) to which the private sector will participate 67%.
