Morocco signed an agreement with the German Development Bank (KfW) for a loan of €654 million to finance part of the construction of two power plants that run on solar energy, whose total capacity is 300 MW. The project will cost around €1.7 billion.

According to the Moroccan Agency for Solar Energy (MASEN), the consortium, led by the Spanish company Abengoa, Internacional Power and ACWA Power, has been shortlisted in the tender for the construction of the 200 MW plant (Noor 2) in the city of Ouarzazate in the South.

The three companies were also selected in the pre-qualification tender for a 100 MW station alongside a consortium led by the French company EDF.
